Waxing

Waxing dates back hundreds, if not thousands, of years. Who started the practice of waxing is up for debate.

The Egyptians, as well as individuals from India, lay claim to being the originators of this trend in hair removal.

Being smooth and hair-free has been a standard for lots of people for a long time.

Waxing Etiquette

To ensure the best possible experience and results from your waxing service, please review the following guidelines for before and after care:

Before Your Waxing Appointment

Cleanse the Area

Gently wash the area to be waxed prior to your appointment. Please avoid arriving directly from workouts, long workdays, or fresh out of bed—bacteria on the skin can enter open follicles and cause irritation.

Optional Pain Relief

Taking 2–4 ibuprofen 30–60 minutes prior to your service may help reduce sensitivity.

Hair Length Matters

Allow at least 7–10 days of growth. Hair should be about ¼" to ⅜" long for optimal results and less tweezing.

Limit Caffeine

Excess caffeine can heighten sensitivity during waxing by stimulating the nervous system.

Skip Exfoliants & Tanning Products

On the day of your appointment, avoid self-tanners, sun exposure, tanning beds, and exfoliating products.

Timing Around Menstrual Cycle

You may feel more comfortable if you schedule your wax outside of your menstrual cycle.

After Your Waxing Appointment

Hands Off

Avoid touching freshly waxed skin to prevent bacteria from entering open follicles.

Avoid Sun Exposure

Refrain from sunbathing or tanning beds for at least 24 hours.

No Heat or Sweat

Skip hot showers, saunas, and strenuous exercise for at least 4 hours post-wax.

Soothe and Calm

Apply Aloe Vera gel as needed to calm and hydrate the area.

Prevent Ingrown Hairs

Once any tenderness subsides, gently exfoliate the area with a scrub or washcloth, and moisturize regularly.

Waxing Contraindications

Waxing may not be suitable if you are currently using or have recently used:

Retin-A

Accutane

Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs)

Tetracycline

Have conditions such as diabetes or phlebitis

Received Botox or similar treatments within the past 72 hours

Note: These are only a few examples. If you are unsure whether waxing is safe for you, consult with your physician prior to treatment.

For special occasions, we recommend a patch test 2–4 weeks in advance to assess skin sensitivity. If no major reaction occurs, you may schedule your full waxing service at least one week before your event.
